Poate-Joyner is Director and Lead Clinician of APJ Psychological Consulting,
providing high-quality independent Clinical, Occupational Health, Medico-legal
and Expert Witness services to the NHS, CQC, Local Authorities, Police Forces,
CPS, MOD, the courts, and to private sector services.
Poate-Joyner is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow with the British
Psychological Society, and a Registered Psychologist with the Health and Care
Professions Council. Annabel sits on the
BPS Expert Witness Advisory Group, the Mental Capacity Working Party, and
Division of Clinical Psychology (DCP) Committees and is also on the BPS
Register of Approved Psychological Practice Supervisors (RAPPS). She is
a Specialist Professional Advisor for Care Quality Commission (CQC).
her career, Annabel has worked primarily
in the fields of Mental Health, with specialist expertise in Mental Health Act
and Mental Capacity Act issues, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Learning
Disability, and Vulnerable Persons.
Annabel has also specialised in working with police officers and law
enforcement organisations, holding several Force Psychologist posts, contracts
and arrangements including Surrey Police, CEOP, and the Metropolitan Police
Service, the Royal Military Police, SOCA, the National Crime Agency, and
INTERPOL, and she has provided clinical and occupational health advisory services to
Dorset Police 2011 to date.
Annabel Poate-Joyner is a Trustee of Care of Police Survivors charity (COPS). She has also had articles published on her work in Police Review and the Your Witness publications.
